Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting Avi-Bio in Poland. As another start-up hatchery using the EmTech equipment, we couldn’t wait to see how things were progressing. The trip went better than we could have ever imagined!
This particular installation utilises a high density 82 egg stacking tray at 17 high. With a capacity of 100,368 eggs, the PrimoTech single stage setter is the perfect fit, making excellent use of the available floor space. The first setter was set on the 5th November and, the data speak itself!
As stated earlier, this is the setter that has 17 high stacks using the 82-egg tray. It is a three-section single stage setter with a capacity of 100,368 eggs. The data is as follows:
- The machine is set at 08:00 on the morning of the 5th.
- It reaches it’s holding temperature of 75°F at 10:00 – This is held for 3 hours.
- At 13:00 hrs, the setter then commenced the next heating stage to incubation temperature.
- At the 17:45, the setter reached temperature
- Total effective heating time = 6 ¾ hours.
- For the capacity of the setter at 100,368 eggs, the total amount of electrical energy consumed to heat the egg mass from 65°F to 100°F was 18Kw X 6.75 hours = 121.5kW/hour
On that basis, this setter only used 1.21Kwh/1000 eggs of electrical heating!
But there are still 17 days left of the incubation period?
Yes, I know what you’re thinking. There are still 17 days left, surely there’s more heating to come?
Actually, there isn’t.
As you can see, this graph shows that once the setter had reached temperature, within 3 hours all heating had stopped.
This means, that the EmTech PrimoTech single stage setter only used 1.21 Kwh/1000 eggs of heating!
This is the ‘zero-point-six’
Through the combination of our Eclipse PLC Control System coupled with the unique design and construction of our incubator cabinets; we can provide a superior level of quality and quantity of chicks.
The main contributor in this instance is our well-insulated cabinets. By incorporating our interlocking slip joints plus the absence of aluminium in our framework, the risk of thermal loss is completely mitigated. This combined with the reduced levels of condensation and cold air pockets have shown a proven 30% increase in better insulation.
Moreover, the specially developed corner unit door seals and air dampers are all major aspects of ‘zero-point-six’.
EmTech in Poland
Consequently, it’s brilliant to see more EmTech equipment starting up in Poland. For us here at EmTech, seeing ‘zero-point-six’ in action was very interesting. Additionally, as was the rapid rise in Co2; with the first setter reaching over 1% Co2 concentration in 4 days. A true testament to the efficient airtight sealing of the cabinet!
We are all very excited and looking forward to seeing the first hatch from this new installation coming off later this Month. Perhaps even more excited than us is Marcin, the owner of Avi- Bio. It was a such a pleasure to meet with Marcin and the Avi-Bio Team.
It really was very reassuring to listen to Marcin and his appreciation for the value of quality, longevity and performance of the EmTech equipment. These are most definitely important considerations when investing in capital hatchery equipment. Especially as this is something that will impact the profitability of his hatchery operation for the next 25-30 years and more!
At EmTech, we dedicate ourselves to bringing you the best hatchery solutions. Our mission is to provide all our clients with the tightest hatch window possible and a superior level of chick numbers, 7-day mortality and FCR. We achieve this through the 0.6ºC maximum temperature bandwidth.
